Women were guaranteed voting rights around 100 years back but women have recently become a part of major parties' presidential nomination fights. There are the majority of women working as national and state lawmakers but the share of women in the major political position is low. There are 19% of the women members in Congress and less than 25% of all state legislatures. Out of 50 governors, only six are women (Kurtzleben, 2016). The major rise in women's representation took place in 1992 which was called the year of women and the next year the number increased from 29 to 47 and also 4 women joined the Senate and the total number of female Senates was Six (Kurtzleben, 2016). Today there are 104 women in congress which is the highest number if compared to the past but still, it is lower than the women’s total share of the population.
